Singer Ariana Grande and Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson broke off their engagement this weekend, TMZ reports. According to the website, Grande and Davidson recognized that it “simply was not the right time for their relationship to take off.” A source told The Blast that Grande needed time to “work on herself.” E! News reported the singer’s manager, Scooter Braun, alluded to Grande’s personal troubles after she canceled her scheduled performance at Saturday’s Fuck Cancer Gala. “Someone I’m very close to was supposed to come sing for you today, and because of things that she’s going through, she couldn’t be here today,” Braun reportedly told the crowd. “And while I was frustrated, being the manager, my wife, being who she always is, just looked at me and she goes, ‘She needs this time.’” Grande and Davidson got engaged in June, a few weeks after they started dating.
