Ariana Grande has hit back at Kanye West’s claims on Twitter that she was using his beef with Drake for self-promotion. The “thank u, next” singer’s online argument with West stemmed from his Twitter fight with Drake on Thursday, claiming that he criticized “people with mental health issues,” E! News explained in an overview of their argument. Grande weighed in shortly thereafter, tweeting “Guys, I know there are grown men arguing online [right now] but Miley and I dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y'all could please jus [sic] behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that'd be so sick thank u.” She then dropped her latest single, “Imagine,” within two hours and then extensively promoted the song, E! Notes. West tweeted early Saturday “I know Ariana said this to be cool and didn't mean no harm but I don't like even slightest level of slight commentary from someone I know loves and respects me” and claimed in a subsequent tweet that Drake hid “disses” in his pals’ tracks. “All of this foolishness weighed on my mental health so @ArianaGrande you know I got love for you but until you're ready to really make sure everyone's ok don't use me or this moment to promote a song,” continued West, who has alluded to his own mental health issues. Grande then responded to West’s tweets. “With all due respect, I don't need to use anyone to promote anything. Period. I was making a comment ab what men were doing at the time vs. women. It was a joke which I understand now was probably insensitive. I apologize if I was in any way triggering and hope u feel well today,” she wrote, posting shortly thereafter, “last thing. stop weaponizing mental health. everyone.”
