Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs has vetoed a school bathroom bill, calling it “yet another discriminatory act against LGBTQ+ youth.” The Republican-backed legislation—which would have stopped trans students from using the restroom or locker room that matched their gender identity—is one of 111 bills the Democratic governor has vetoed this year. She previously vetoed a bill that would have banned teachers from using students’ preferred pronouns in public schools.
