Police arrested 57 protesters outside the federal courthouse in St. Louis, Missouri on Monday as the chief executive of St. Louis County declared a state of emergency following violence outside a protest in Ferguson on Sunday. Protestors blocked rush-hour traffic on the highway. More than 1,000 people peacefully took to the streets in Ferguson but the scene turned violent at night after police shot a man who they say opened fire on their vehicle (he is listed in critical condition in a nearby hospital). Two others were shot in a drive-by shooting.
