Art of Giving

The group behind some of the oil spill art, Women of the Storm, has teamed up with Sandra Bullock, Dave Matthews, and many other stars to restore the Gulf of Mexico. Their petition attracted more than 10,000 signatures in four hours after official launch. The group created a video urging Americans to demand a plan for the restoration of the Gulf, its coastlines, and wetlands. Women of the Storm is a “diverse, nonpolitical, nonpartisan group of women from the New Orleans area.” Formed after Katrina, the organization originally focused rebuilding homes and businesses, but has shifted to restoring the Gulf Coast, and plans to collect “as many signatures to the petition as possible” before bringing it to the White House and Congress.
