Actress Ashley Judd announced Wednesday afternoon on Twitter that, after months of speculation and headlines, she would not challenge Republican Mitch McConnell for his Kentucky Senate seat. "Regretfully, I am currently unable to consider a campaign for the Senate," Judd tweeted. "After serious and thorough contemplation, I realize that my responsibilities and energy at this time need to be focused on my family." While the possibility of a Senate run was always dismissed as mostly speculation, Democrats saw Judd as an potentially unorthodox candidate who could challenge the Senate minority leader.
