At least 165 people were killed on Sunday as two bombs blasted Baghdad, one of which was claimed by ISIS. At least 225 people were injured. The deadliest attack took place in a major shopping district, killing 86 people, 15 of which were children. That attack is believed to be the deadlist single bomb attack in the country since 2007. These recent bombings demonstrate that even as ISIS suffered defeats on the battlefield, including recently in Fallujah, they can still commit serious attacks. “We remain united with the Iraqi people and government in our combined efforts to destroy ISIL,” a White House statement said on Sunday. The administration wrote that the attack strengthened the United States’ resolve in the fight against the Islamic State.
