A bus transporting students lost control and crashed Saturday in northern Tanzania, leaving at least 35 dead. Many of the victims were young children, while two teachers and a bus driver were also among the dead, police said. Authorities said the bus skidded off the road and plunged into a gully, though it was not clear if an investigation would be opened into the cause of the crash. President John Magufuli issued a statement in the wake of the accident, offering condolences to the victims’ families “at this time of tragedy and grief.”
