Auburn freshman football player Jakell Mitchell was shot and killed early Sunday morning at an apartment complex near campus. Police were called to the Tiger Lodge apartment complex at 12:28 a.m. 18-year-old Mitchell was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and died shortly after arriving. Police in Auburn, Alabama said 22-year-old Markale Hart has been charged with Mitchell's murder. Mitchell was the only person hurt in the shooting. Mitchell redshirted this past season and was aiming to start at H-back and tight end next season. The fatal shooting occurred at complex where three people, including two former Auburn football players, were murdered in 2012.
