Australian PM Mocks Trump in Leaked Audio

The Prime Minister said the speech was “good humored.”

Leaked audio from the Australian Parliament’s annual Midwinter Ball reveals Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull mocking President Trump in a speech to journalists and politicians. In the speech, Turnbull, who is also facing unpopularity at home, poked fun at the two leaders’ standing in recent opinion polls. “The Donald and I, we are winning and winning in the polls,” he said. “We are winning so much! We are winning like we have never won before. We are winning in the polls. We are! Not the fake polls. Not the fake polls. They’re the ones we’re not winning in. We’re winning in the real polls.” Australia’s Midwinter Ball is similar to the U.S. White House Correspondents Dinner, the Prime Minister's speech is supposed to be off-the-record. Turnbull told an Australian radio station that he was “disappointed” the speech had gotten out, but said it was just “good humored” fun.
