Having finished twice in second place, 34-year-old Cadel Evans has become the first Australian to win the Tour de France. Evans celebrated with Champagne after the grueling bicycle race, the most prestigious in the sport, after a ceremonial ride through the streets of Paris. Evans began Saturday's time trial 57 seconds behind Andy Schleck of Luxembourg, but powered his way to victory with the ride of his life, and finished the time trial with a lead of a minute and 34 seconds.
