A woman diver in Australia has died after a reported shark attack on Sunday morning, making it the second event in the area this week. The diver, a 60-year-old woman, showed signs of injury “consistent with a shark attack,” police said. Her 43-year-old diving partner noticed a “commotion in the water,” and a nearby fishing boat came over to help the two. The crew has said the shark appeared to be longer than their 18-foot ship. It quickly became clear that the woman had “suffered severe and fatal injuries,” a police spokesman said. Earlier this week, 29-year-old surfer Ben Gerring was attacked by a shark and died just south of Perth. A great white shark measuring 14 feet in length was captured near the area, but it’s still unclear if that shark was responsible for Gerring’s death.
