Alex Miller is a Navy veteran and Reporting Fellow for the Economic Hardship Reporting Project. He’s been published in The New York Times, Wired, and his piece in Esquire won the 2023 ASJA Award for First-Person Essay. In addition, he has also been featured in the anthologies The Byline Bible, The Chicago Neighborhood Guidebook, and Going for Broke: Living on the Edge in the World’s Richest Country. He is working on a memoir.
