An ATF agent is suing after he was roughed up by local officers. But he’d be immune from lawsuits if the roles were reversed, thanks to qualified immunity.
Alexa L. Gervasi is the Executive Director of the Georgetown Center for the Constitution. Prior to joining Georgetown Law, Gervasi was an attorney at the Institute for Justice, where she specialized in constitutional litigation with a focus on government immunity and accountability. After graduating from Texas A&M University and Georgetown University Law Center, she clerked for Judge D. Michael Fisher on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and Judge Don R. Willett on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
