Byron D’Andra Orey is Professor and former Chair of the Political Science Department at Jackson State University. He earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Mississippi Valley State University, an M.P.A. from the University of Mississippi, an M.A. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and a Ph.D. from the University of New Orleans. He has taught at the University of Mississippi, the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. His research is in the area of race and politics, focusing heavily on legislative behavior, implicit biases and racial attitudes.
