Tour guides and museums are all well and good, but history truly comes alive to us in the most unexpected ways—sometimes just in the smell of old family letters.
Laird Hunt is the author of the just released Neverhome, a story of the Civil War, as well a volume of short stories and five novels, including Kind One, a finalist for both the 2013 Pen/Faulkner Award and the 2013 Pen USA Literary Award in Fiction and the winner of a 2013 Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for Fiction. Hunt is currently currently on the faculty in the University of Denver’s Creative Writing Program, where he also edits the Denver Quarterly.
