Michelle Manning is a New York–based activist who has worked with MoveOn.org since 2005, as well as the Wounded Warrior Project, the Achilles Freedom Team, VoteVets, and Art Not War. In Rockaway, after Hurricane Sandy, she worked with the relief groups Third Wave (led by Allison Thompson), Small Water (Michelle Cortez), Ashtanga Yoga Outreach (Eddie Stern), and Rockaway Relief (James Brennan); also with the St. Phillips Christian Church (Pastor Neron Tillman), and St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She also volunteered at Queens Library and PS197, and gave a tour of the 96th Street "Veggie Corner" commissary to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

For weeks since Sandy volunteers have been helping out in the Rockaways, but the Red Cross, who raised $150 million on the storm, has hardly been seen. Michelle Manning wants to know where the organization has been.
