Detective Louis Scarcella was once one of the Big Apple’s most celebrated cops. But that was four decades ago. A lot has unraveled in the meantime.
Steve Fishman is an award-winning magazine and podcast journalist and author. As a staff writer for New York, he was known for landing the impossible-to-get subject. Fishman got to Son of Sam in prison, and Bernie Madoff opened up to him.
Fishman jumped the world of podcasts with a series for Audible, Ponzi Supernova, about Madoff. He followed that with a number one series, Empire on Blood, for Panoply. In 2022, he launched his podcast company, Orbit Media, with Oscar-winner Fisher Stevens. Among the company’s investors is Sony Music Entertainment, with which Orbit has a first-look deal.
Fishman began his career in journalism at a local paper, the Norwich Bulletin in Connecticut, where he was picked up hitchhiking by a man who turned out to be a serial killer. His relationship with that killer is the subject of an upcoming podcast from Sony Music.
Today, Fishman lives in Brooklyn where he owns a bar and where he and his wife chase around a toddler.
