A managing director at Bain Capital—the private-equity firm founded by Mitt Romney—is a big Obama fundraiser. Jonathan Lavine, who is the chief investment officer of Sankaty Advisors—a Bain affiliate—fundraised for Obama in 2008 and joined the reelection campaign in recent months by raising between $100,000 and $200,000. Other high-profile donors to join the reelection effort include Jon Corzine and TV actors such as Wendell Pierce and Eva Longoria. Obama's campaign recruited 100 big-time fundraisers in the fourth quarter of last year.
