Superman should be happy about this: Christian Bale has announced that The Dark Knight Rises will be his last outing as Batman. “I wrapped a few days ago," Bale said, "so that will be the last time I’m taking that cowl [Batman hood] off.” The third Chris Nolan–directed Batman film is set to be released next summer and also stars Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman. "Everything’s finished,” Bale said, since “it’s me and Chris—that will be the end of that Batman era.” Bale said he finished filming Friday.
