The U.S. soldier accused of killing 16 Afghan civilians will spend several days with his lawyers, an attorney for the soldier said Saturday. Army Staff Sgt. Robert Bales, 38, has not yet been charged in the shooting, and he is being held at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., the military’s only maximum-security prison. Meanwhile, information about Bales’s private life came to light, including that his wife, Karilyn Bales, kept a blog chronicling her life as a military wife. “Bob left for Iraq this morning,” she wrote in August 2009. “Quincy slept in our bed last night.” In what appears to be the last post, in March 2011, Karilyn wrote that the blog is meant to be a “time capsule,” and that she hoped to “look back in a year to see how far we have come from right now.”
