Police in Bangladesh say they have killed nine suspected Islamists who were plotting a terrorist attack. On Tuesday, police carried out a raid that led to a dramatic two-hour gun battle in Dhaka, where 20 hostages, including many foreigners, were killed in a restaurant by extremists this month. The nine suspects killed Tuesday were thought to belong to the same group responsible for that attack, authorities said. Masud Ahmed, deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said that in addition to the nine individuals killed, one suspect survived and was taken into custody.
