A 20-year-old Bangladeshi woman gave birth to twins less than one month after giving birth to a premature baby, BBC News reports. Arifa Sultana reportedly gave birth to a premature baby boy in late February, but felt a “pain in her stomach” and was rushed to a hospital 26 days later. Through an ultrasound, doctors reportedly discovered Sultana was pregnant with twins and had two uteruses. According to the BBC, the twins—a boy and a girl—were delivered by emergency C-section and are healthy. “When the patient came in we performed an ultrasound on her and found there were twin babies,” Dr. Sheila Poddar, who delivered the twins, was quoted as saying. “We were very shocked and surprised. I have never observed something like this before.” Sultana reportedly had no idea she was still pregnant with twins after her first birth. Her father reportedly told AFP he would “try his best” to provide for his family despite earning only about $95 a month working as a laborer.
