Bannon Claims He Rejected Qatar’s Attempts to Meet Him

He says he knew the country wanted to meet with him last year to influence the administration.

Steve Bannon, President Donald Trump’s former political strategist, told Bloomberg that he “was aware” that Qatar was interested in meeting with him last year to “influence the administration.” “I knew the Qataris were looking to sit down with me,” Bannon said. “I never met with any of them.” Bannon’s friend, Jeff Kwatinetz, alleged in an affidavit that Qatari investor Ahmed Al-Rumaihi asked for his help setting up a meeting between Bannon and the Qatari government in January in an effort to “underwrite Bannon’s political work after leaving the White House.” Bannon also previously said that “people around town” were telling him that the Qataris wanted to meet him ahead of Trump’s trip to Saudi Arabia.
