Former President Bush’s fact checker should have called his mother: Barbara Bush says her son’s story about the time she showed him a jar containing a fetus she miscarried is incorrect—though she does confirm that there was a fetus in a jar. It was put there by her housekeeper, Paula Rendon, who also showed it to a teenaged George W. Bush. “I was shocked when she gave it to him,” Barbara Bush told Larry King. The fetus was brought to the hospital after Bush’s miscarriage.
