Barbra Streisand will auction hundreds of items of clothing, furniture, and art this weekend in a Beverly Hills charity auction. Streisand is using the remodel of her Malibu home as a reason to give to charity, auctioning off personal items that “do not fit” with the planned re-design. The memorabilia, which includes a gold painted wooden "A" that she kept as a memento from her decision to drop the letter from her name decades ago, has a collective value of approximately $600,000, but is projected to draw much more. A painting believed to be by Dutch painer Kees van Dongen, valued at an estimated $200,000, is also up for sale. Proceeds from the auction go to the Streisand Foundation, which distributes funds to a variety of causes, from the Natural Resources Defense Council to Human Rights Watch. “If you really can’t use it, why not let someone else enjoy it?” said Streisand of the auction.
