Barstool Sports employee Jonathan Stanko has died at the age of 32 after a battle with cancer, company founder Dave Portnoy said Tuesday. “Really sad news from the world of Barstool,” Portnoy wrote on X. He added that Stanko worked at the media company for four years and was well-liked, which is “very rare at Barstool.” Stanko worked as a production technician, according to his LinkedIn profile. “It’s the 1st time we’ve had to deal with something this heavy in the 20 years of Barstool,” Portnoy said. “A cruel reminder not to take a day for granted because tomorrow isn’t promised to anybody.” Stanko announced on his blog that he was diagnosed with stage four of a stomach cancer known as Adenocarcinoma gastric in April. He said that if he didn’t respond to chemotherapy well, he’d have 14 months to live. He leaves behind his wife, whom he married in July.
