Baseball Legend Ernie Banks Dead at 83

Hall of Fame baseball player Ernie Banks died Friday at the age of 83. Nicknamed “Mr. Cub,” Banks was a Chicago favorite. He played with the Cubs for his entire Major League career from 1953-1971 after being signed from the Negro Leagues, where he was paid just seven dollars a day. He won the National League MVP twice and led the league in home runs twice, as well. He played in 14 All Star games and was voted to the Hall of Fame his first year of eligibility. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013.
