Summer felt that much closer Sunday night, as baseball season began with an exhilarating face-off in Boston. The reigning world champion New York Yankees may have entered Fenway Park confident, but “they left on Monday morning thankful for a day off,” the New York Times reported. It was a good evening for the Boston Red Sox, who managed to come back from behind to win 9 to 7. To prepare for Sunday’s game and the rest of the season, the Red Sox spent the off-season working on improving their pitching staff and their defense. The Yankees aren’t taking the loss to heart: “It’s one game,” team manager Joe Girardi told the Times. “You don’t make too much out of it either way.”
