Stuffy, much? The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science denied The Dark Knight this morning, all but shutting the caped crusader out of the top prizes. The film won’t be competing in key categories: Best Picture, Best Director, or Screenplay. Although the film scored eight nominations, fans still believe it earns the respect that comes with a high-profile acknowledgment. The fan favorite will have to console itself with being the second-highest grossing film of all time. Other semi shut-outs include Wall-E for Best Picture (Animated Feature will have to be sufficient for the little guy) and Kate Winslet for Revolutionary Road (she’ll make do, we suppose, with her nod for The Reader).
