DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS

Bautista Punched in Rangers-Jays Brawl

“He got me pretty good.”

In what many considered revenge for Jose Bautista’s meme-inducing bat flip during the final Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers game of the 2015 ALDS, an on-field brawl erupted Sunday night. During a game in Arlington, Texas, Bautista made a hard slide into Rougned Odor. The Venezuelan second baseman took offense and punched Bautista in the face, knocking the helmet off his head and causing both benches to clear. Bautista said afterward: “I was pretty surprised. I mean, obviously, that’s the only reason that he got me, and he got me pretty good, so I have to give him that.” He added, “I had a hard slide at second base. I could have injured [Odor, but] I chose not to,” he continued. “I tried to send a message that I didn't appreciate getting hit [by the pitch].” Odor did not comment after the game.
