Bear Brutally Kills Soldier Training Near Alaska Landfill

A soldier with the 673rd Security Forces Squadron was fatally attacked by a bear while taking part in training exercises near a landfill outside Anchorage. The Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson released a statement confirming the attack, but have not identified the dead soldier pending notification of family members. Authorities did not say what type of bear was suspected, but did say it is still at large and is being hunted by Alaska Wildlife Troopers.
