Behold: The Celebrities of Burning Man
Instagram proof that famous people like Katy Perry, Jared Leto, Diddy, Susan Sarandon, and more are just as weird as the rest of us

So another Burning Man has come and gone, leaving scads of dusty, smoky free spirits scattering like the ashes of a giant burning effigy across the country to rejoin their normal lives. Among those still slowly regaining reality are no small number of celebrities who made the annual pilgrimage to the Playa in order trip out and, naturally, be photographed letting their freak flags fly.
As our brave spirit warriors return to their roosts for yet another year on the grind, here’s a look at some of the beautiful people who turned out to turn down for what:
Katy Perry had the Segway fail heard ’round the world (wide web). At least she can take solace knowing that no matter what, she’ll probably never have to be a mall cop.
Jared Leto was on hand, because of course he was.
Fashion writer extraordinaire Derek Blasberg took pics of BFF Karlie Kloss, as one does.
Singer / model / actress triple threat Cassie cavorted, even canoodling with her main squeeze Diddy for a quick snap.
Model Suki Waterhouse also braved the heat, dust, and trailer park housing, admitting on Twitter that Burning Man almost did her in—and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Special props go to everyone’s cultural spirit animal Susan Sarandon, who allegedly carted around LSD wizard Timothy Leary’s ashes for a special ceremony.
See you next year! Or sooner, if the rumors of a permanent Burning Man settlement prove to be more than a PR person’s ayahuasca dream.
