Robert Stevaerts, 60, the former leader of the Flemish Socialist Party known as “Steve Stunt” was found drowned in a canal on Thursday. The discovery came just hours after prosecutors announced he would stand trial for rape. His bicycle was found nearby. He was a former bar owner who became mayor of Hasselt and regional governor. Two years ago a woman came forward saying he raped her in 2010 after meeting on the set of a TV show.
