Belmont Stakes: Drosselmeyer Wins

Upset victory over Ice Box.

With odds of 13-1, Drosselmeyer won the Belmont Stakes Saturday, snagging victory three-quarters of a length ahead of Fly Down and defeating the favorite, Ice Box. A crowd of 45,243 watched trainer Bill Mott win his first Triple Crown race. First Dude, who took second at Preakness, was third at Belmont Park. Drosselmeyer is a 3-year-old colt and the son of Distorted Humor. Jockey Mike Smith rode him over the finish line at 2:31.57.
