Ben Carson announced his departure from the 2016 presidential race Friday afternoon, telling the Conservative Political Action Conference that despite it being “an experience I’ll never forget,” he is “leaving the campaign trail.” The retired neurosurgeon is expected to announce that his new job will be national chairman of the nonpartisan organization My Faith Votes, which seeks to encourage more Christians to vote. Carson did not win any state primaries or caucuses during the time he remained in the race.
