Benedict Cumberbatch Gets Engaged

Woe are the Cumberbitches.

Sherlock star and international heartthrob Benedict Cumberbatch has gotten engaged! To a certain Sophie Hunter, a theater actress and director who apparently has been the actor’s girlfriend for some time. And the way it was announced is not exactly typical: via an advert in the Classifieds section of The Times of London, under “Forthcoming Marriages.” The rather traditional announcement in the births, marriages and deaths section of the paper, reads: “The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katherine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London.” The Independent reports that those are indeed the names of the two bethrotheds’ parents, so the Star Trek actor’s legion of fans probably can commence wailing and gnashing of teeth now.
