The new season of the Serial podcast has access to 25 hours of interviews with Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. Army soldier who was released after a prisoner swap with the Taliban. He has been labeled both a hero and a traitor. In the first episode of the new season, which debuted Thursday at 6 a.m., Bergdahl describes the misery of captivity. “How do I explain to a person that just standing in an empty dark room hurts?” Sarah Koenig will investigate the allegations made against him.
