Despite Ben Bernanke's plummeting reputation in his role as chairman of the Federal Reserve, he can count two people on his side. Senators Christopher Dodd (D-CT) and Judd Gregg (R-NH) have both voiced their confidence in Bernanke's confirmation in a statement Saturday. "Based on our discussions with our colleagues, we are very confident that Chairman Bernanke will win confirmation by the Senate for a second term." Bernanke needs 60 votes to stay put for a second term, and as of Friday a Dow Jones News Service tally showed he had 26 senators in his favor, with 15 opposed. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will support Bernanke's confirmation.
