Those $27 donations really add up.
In March, Bernie Sanders set the record for the highest amount of money raised by any 2016 presidential campaign in one month. Who held the previous record? Bernie Sanders, in February.
The Sanders campaign raised $44 million in March, more than any other candidate in either party. That surpassed its record in February, when it took in $43.5 million.
Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, raised a comparatively paltry $23.5 million in March, and was out-raised by Sanders in January and February as well.
Sanders’ campaign announced their haul in a press release Thursday night, in which they pointed out, of course, that the average donation they received was $27.
