When President Donald Trump holds his first 2019 rally in El Paso, Texas, on Monday, he will be met with competition, as former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke will be holding an opposing rally just a few blocks away. O’Rourke, who told Oprah earlier this month that he’s mulling a presidential bid, announced Friday that he will speak at 7 p.m. as part of a protest against Trump’s demands for a border wall. Before the speech, the former lawmaker will participate in a one-mile march along the border. The rally will “show the country the reality of the border—a vibrant, safe, binational community that proudly celebrates its culture, history, diversity and status as a city of immigrants,” the protest rally organizers said.
