From downing Sizzurp to re-opening Chinese and South Korean scars from World War II, Justin Bieber has had a trying 2014. In contrast to his usual arrogant defiance, the pop singer has actually apologized this time. Bieber got into hot water when he visited Japan’s controversial Yasukuni war shrine this week and posted photos on Instagram. The shrine is generally seen by China and South Korea as a symbol of Japan’s militarism and lack of remorse. He removed the photos and wrote on Instagram: “To anyone I have offended I am extremely sorry.” Ever the diplomat, he added, “I love you China and I love you Japan.”
