Now that Bill Cosby has more than 50 women claiming he drugged and raped them—meaning he has, as Bill Maher so succinctly put it, allegedly raped more women than “there are shades of grey”—it’s become impossible to justify any positive cultural mention of the fallen comedian. As we begin the slow process of erasing the presence of a man who was once a father figure and inspiration to millions from our collective consciousness, and as more and more victims come out of the darkness echoing reprehensible accusations, one thing is clear: Nothing Cosby said or did retains humor when taken in the context of the monster he really is.
As Cosby seeks a top dog defense lawyer to stave off potential prosecution, this YouTube user has re-edited the comic’s once-iconic Himself performance to reflect the stark reality by removing all of the laughter. We’re left with a creepy, lonely, weird man all by himself on a stage, with no one left to turn to and nothing left to do but try to maintain an act that isn’t working any more.
