Bill Cosby has canceled a planned appearance on David Letterman’s late-night show after the publication of a first-person article by a former actress who alleges the actor drugged and raped her on more than one occasion while Cosby was mentoring the young actress in the mid-1980s. The article brought renewed attention to allegations that Cosby sexually assaulted several women many years ago. A civil suit against Cosby filed in 2005 promised to include testimony from 13 other unnamed women—one of whom wrote the article published in The Washington Post this week—but was settled for an undisclosed amount. Letterman’s show would not comment on whether they decided to replace him or whether Cosby withdrew. “We can’t comment on the booking process,” a spokesman said.
