Bill Nye “the Science Guy” collapsed during a speech at USC Thursday. The TV personality was scheduled to speak about his views on science education and on his experience on his show, which made science accessible to children in the ‘90s. Paramedics responded at 8:40 p.m., but it’s unclear whether Nye was treated. Some audience members tweeted that Nye fainted several times and slurred his speech, and Tristan Camacho, a USC senior, said Nye collapsed on his way to the podium and then “popped back up with much gust and asked everybody how long he was out for and went on with a story about how a similar thing happened to him that morning.” Camacho went on to say that students were so busy updating their Twitter feeds that no one went to Nye’s aid. “It was just all a very bizarre evening,” said the senior.
