Billy Crudup (The Watchmen) is set to play Tim Geithner in HBO’s film version of New York Times columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin’s Too Big to Fail—an examination of the 2008 financial crisis and the politicians who cast the die on the fate of the economy. The actor confirmed the news to Fox Business Network's Liz Claman on the floor at BGC Partners, where he made trades for their Global Charity Day on Monday, according to New York magazine. Oscar winner William Hurt has already been cast as the film’s central character, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, who preceded Geithner. The film will be written by Breaking Bad scribe Peter Gould and directed by L.A. Confidential's Curtis Hanson.
