Billy Reid Wins CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund

Fashion’s freshest talents have been crowned: Designer Billy Reid won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award, a $300,000 prize for emerging fashion designers, on Monday night in New York. Prabal Gurung and Eddie Borgo were runners up, each winning $100,000 and statuettes designed by the artist Rachel Feinstein. The winners were chosen from a group of 10 finalists that included Joseph Altuzarra, Christian Cota, and Pamela Love. Past winners include Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler and Sophie Theallet. Minutes before the winner was announced, WWD posted a tweet announcing the news—and immediately took it down. Tweeted T Magazine’s Hocatio Silva immediately after: “Scandale!!
