Bitcoin Breaks Into NBA

Continuing its steady march toward legitimacy, Bitcoin will now be accepted by the Sacramento Kings basketball team, making it the first major professional sports franchise to do so. Fans will be able to purchase tickets, jerseys, food, and beer with the digital currency, and payments will be processed by Bitpay. "The way I saw it, Bitcoin had reached a tipping point where it had crossed from being a curiosity to a becoming a legitimate form of doing commerce," said Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé. The Kings hope to be able to accept all transactions by March 1.
