Bear Shot and Killed After Escaping From Jacksonville Zoo Exhibit

A black bear was shot and killed after it escaped from its Jacksonville Zoo exhibit in Florida on Wednesday. The zoo posted a statement to Facebook saying the incident took place Wednesday at 5:10 p.m., when the North American black bear named Jonny escaped and “engaged with a zookeeper.” The zookeeper was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. “We do not take this lightly,” the zoo said in its statement, vowing to investigate the incident.
