Thousands of people took to the streets of Tokyo on Sunday in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Thousands of people took to the streets of Tokyo on Sunday for a Black Lives Matter march, marking the first such demonstration in Japan. Many held signs with slogans like, “Racism is a Pandemic” and “No Justice No Peace.” Marchers called for an end to global racial discrimination. “It is not enough to just send our prayers,” a 22-year-old protester named Shu Fukui told Reuters. “We need to change society, not only for George Floyd, but also for those who died in the past.”
